Artist Statement

Jayda Karsten’s interdisciplinary artistic practice investigates the spaces and places in the built environment that are in a state of flux. Drawn to the physical and conceptual space between Fine Art and Architecture, she explores the concepts of space/place making, ephemeral architecture/ psychogeography and relational aesthetics. With a focus on creating public art as a verb rather than a noun, where by the public is engaged in an art experience. Her choice of utilitarian semi-industrial materials is paired with a transformative human element that invites the public to interact with her work.
